Aurora Women’s Empowerment Foundation Makes Grant Possible

AURORA, IL, USA, August 8, 2023. The Aurora Women’s Empowerment Foundation—an organization which seeks to reimagine female empowerment through supporting programs offered by Aurora-area nonprofits—announced it has awarded the HELM Foundation a multi-year grant to help fund its unique “Healthy Living” program.

“We have had the pleasure of seeing Cara Jacob, HELM Foundation President, in action these past several months as she’s been working to establish her new nonprofit and show our community how to adopt a healthy lifestyle, all while maintaining her exemplary school work at Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy,” said Amy Baudouin, Board Chair, Aurora Women’s Empowerment Foundation (AWEF). “Her passion for and personal drive to help the underserved with the primary beneficiaries being Aurora girls and women, is remarkable. We are 100% behind Cara’s work as we believe good  health is the foundation of human empowerment and she has demonstrated the skill set to make a measurable difference in this focus area.”

HELM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2023 with the mission to build a healthier community by promoting healthy diet and lifestyle through a series of education activities, community gardens, and cooking workshops. Additionally, HELM programs are further enriched through the distribution of a book written by its founder and president, Cara Jacob, called “Microbiome—What’s In It For Me.”

“A key factor to one’s overall health and well-being is maintaining a well balanced microbiome profile and a healthy diet is paramount to achieving that,” said Cara Jacob, President, HELM Foundation. “However, studies show that healthy diet habits are grossly overlooked during teenage years. It is often deemed acceptable to eat indiscriminately at a younger age, though nutrition is needed in abundance to help with growth and overall wellbeing throughout an individual’s life. This wonderful grant from the Aurora Women’s Empowerment Foundation is helping us remove barriers and raise the health of our community members regardless of a person’s age, background and circumstances.”

The AWEF grant funding allows HELM Foundation’s cooking workshops, led by professional chefs, as well as the organization’s Building a Healthier Tomorrow workshop to be shared at no cost to all interested community groups including school clubs, school districts, and other nonprofit organizations. Community members are encouraged to set up a group workshop by contacting the HELM Foundation at 630-281-9702 or carajacob326@gmail.com
