AURORA, IL, USA, July 11, 2022. “We are over the moon with excitement to help spread the word about Alive Center Aurora’s upcoming summer STEM camp for elementary and middle school youth and Girls Engineering Camp,” said Amy Baudouin, Board Chair, Aurora Women’s Empowerment Foundation (AWEF). “And we’re asking Aurora community leaders to help us share this life-expanding information with others.”

Both camps are free and open to all, and are made possible through a grant Alive Center Aurora received from AWEF. The Girls Engineering Camp will be held July 25th, 27th, and 29th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and the Youth4Sci Tech Camp follows from 2:00 pm to 3:00pm.

Both camps will be held at Alive Center, 78 S. LaSalle Street in Aurora. While participation is encouraged for all three days, youth who can only participate on one or two days are welcome to join.

“Our team put together fun and engaging camps to share the joy of science, technology, engineering and math in a safe, supportive, and supervised environment,” said Kandice Henning, Founder and CEO at Alive Center. “In addition to the Engineering Camp designed expressly for girls, we’re encouraging girls to stay another hour for the STEM camp which takes place on the same day immediately following the Engineering camp.”

The Alive Center Aurora offers Teen-Led Teen-Driven programs at no cost to all students grades 6-12 each day after school and over the summer to encourage leadership, promote success in school, teach effective coping skills, and foster human connections between teens from all races and ethnicities. The girl empowerment programs align closely with the mission of AWEF to elevate and empower women and future women. The girl-focused programs offered at the Aurora Alive Center location include Dare to Be Rare, Girl Empowerment Club, Girl’s STEM programs Coding, as well as Summer STEM Camps.

Those interested in learning more about Alive Center programs in Aurora can drop in Monday through Friday between 3 and 7 pm at 78 S. LaSalle Street, or connect with Alive at info@alivecenter.org or 630-778-6093.
